This page explains how prwavenest.life uses cookies and similar browser storage. It should be read alongside our privacy notice and legal notice. We use plain language because consent only works when people understand what they are choosing.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They can be "session" cookies, which expire when you close the browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain for a defined period. Similar technologies — such as local storage — can hold comparable data. On this site we use one first-party cookie and one local storage entry to remember your consent preference.

How we categorise cookies

We group storage into three categories. The cookie banner and customise panel let you accept or reject non-essential categories. Essential storage cannot be switched off while still using the consent system.

Essential

Essential storage is required for basic operation of the consent mechanism itself. Without it, the site could not remember whether you have already made a choice, and the banner would appear on every page load. We store a cookie named pwn_consent and mirror the same JSON object in local storage under cookie_consent_v1. The value records which categories you enabled, a timestamp in ISO format, and a version number. This category is always active and the control in the panel is locked.

Functional / embedded content

Functional storage covers features that improve practical use of the site beyond bare page delivery. On prwavenest.life the main functional element is the embedded Google Map on every page, showing the Keong Saik / Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood at an approximate zoom level. The map is loaded from Google’s servers inside an iframe. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies or use similar technologies according to Google’s policies — we do not control that processing.

Important: On this site we treat Google Maps as functional / embedded content that remains visible whether you choose Accept all or Reject all. We made this decision because the map provides straightforward location context rather than marketing measurement on our behalf, and hiding it would leave an empty frame on every page. Your functional toggle still records your preference for transparency and for any future features that might depend on it, but the map iframe itself is always rendered. Under Accept all, functional is set to true. Under Reject all, functional is set to false in your stored preference, but the map continues to display with this disclosure. We believe this is the honest approach: the map is present, and you are told clearly why.

Analytics

Analytics cookies would measure how visitors use a site — pages viewed, time on page, referral sources and similar patterns. This build includes no analytics provider. There is no Google Analytics tag, no advertising pixel, no heatmap script and no social tracking embed. The analytics toggle appears in the consent panel so the interface is complete and so a future addition would require an explicit opt-in, but leaving it off changes nothing today because nothing analytics-related runs. Accept all sets analytics to false by design. Reject all also keeps analytics off.

What we do not use

For clarity, prwavenest.life does not deploy:

• Advertising or retargeting cookies
• Social media tracking pixels
• Third-party analytics dashboards
• Cross-site profiling tools
• Newsletter or marketing automation trackers on pages

There is also no contact form on this site, so no form-session cookies are involved.

Retention period

Your consent preference is stored for approximately six months (one hundred and eighty days). After that period the cookie expires and the banner may appear again so you can confirm or change your choice. You may clear storage earlier at any time using the manage control below or your browser settings. Google’s own retention for any data processed through the map embed is governed by Google.

Your choices

When you first visit, a strip appears at the bottom of the page with three equal options: Accept all, Reject all, and Customise. Accept all enables functional and leaves analytics off. Reject all disables functional and analytics in your stored record while maps remain visible as described above. Customise opens a panel where you can set functional and analytics toggles independently, then Save choices.

Your selection is written to both the cookie and local storage so it persists across reloads and navigation. A hard refresh does not reset a valid preference within the six-month window.

Manage cookies

Clearing cookies in your browser

You can delete cookies and site data through your browser settings. Typical paths:

• Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data → Cookies and other site data. You can also manage per-site data under Site settings.
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data, or Clear Data.
• Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
• Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Clearing essential consent storage will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.

Google Maps — additional detail

Each page embeds the same neighbourhood map via a standard Google Maps iframe without an API key. Loading the iframe may transfer your IP address and device information to Google. If you prefer not to interact with Google’s services, you can avoid loading map-heavy pages, though the embed is present site-wide. For Google’s terms and privacy information, refer to Google’s published policies. Location context is also available in text on locate.php.

Changes

If we add new categories or change how maps respond to consent, we will update this page and the "last updated" date. Material changes may reset the banner so visitors can make a fresh choice.
